Flashback Friday - My First Cellphone and other oddities

While unpacking a bunch of pottery I made in high school...

The "Thing" in the upper right hand corner has gone away. I don't know what I was thinking in high school. Maybe a little too much Stephen King literature had been consumed.

I found amusing things in the newspaper itself... I had packed all of this stuff before I left for college.

The date was amusing, not the attacks in the Persian Gulf.

Back then you could have an entire 2MB of RAM!!!

And then this... the "sleek & compact" Motorola cellular phone.

Although I didn't have my first cellphone until 1995, this is about what it looked like. It had the extendable antenna. It had the bottom part that flipped open. The battery was the size of modern cellphones. It weighed about six pounds. I had to buy a bigger purse.
