I'm so thrilled to be a part of Just.Be.Enough.!

Happy Announcement!

I know I alluded to this in my 2012 picture entry, but I would like to expand on it some more now that it’s all official and everything! Elena Sonnino from Just.Be.Enough. put out a call for contributors last month, to which I immediately responded. I jumped up and down in happiness when I received an invitation to become a regular contributor!

Writing has always been important to me – I often am able to express myself better through written words that flow out of my fast-typing fingertips. My parents still have the notes I would write when I was young, because I was too shy/quiet/timid to bluntly go up and ask for something. Even “may I go outside” was difficult for me to say.

To be brief, Just.Be.Enough. was founded by Elena in mid-2011. She felt it important to have somewhere central for women to receive support – many of us may feel as if we’re minimal, or insufficient in some department. Elena and her team have helped so many feel as if we are, in fact, Enough. For a full description of the Just.Be.Enough. history, please visit here.

The JBE website has been a quiet place to visit for inspiration and strength; I can’t remember how I first found it, but it’s been a blessing ever since. It was most likely someone on Twitter who put the link out to “link up” and share a story about how you feel like you’re “enough”. I immediately wrote the story about my struggle with agoraphobia and sent the link to the site. It was a relief. It was a freedom I hadn’t felt in some time. To be “naked” and share such a personal hurt to thousands of people was … healing.

Beginning a blog wasn’t easy. I had doubts – who would want to read anything I had written? The blogs that are out there are outstanding. I soon was assured that people do want to read about my stories, my experiences, my spirit. It’s calming and exhilarating at the same time.

Elena issued us a challenge this year: come up with three words that we want to focus on for ourselves and our writing. I had a very hard time with this. Only three words? So much of my past has been words – how was I supposed to choose only three? Especially three which I would focus on for the next 365 days! I fought with this for a while. Until:

“I dreamed of huge, satiny blue banners with gold trim and lettering, waving strongly in a breeze over a castle wall. I was feeling unsure, lost, and very much alone in my dream, heading through a gateway in the castle wall, when I looked up towards the sun for guidance. I was immediately struck by the powerful resonance of the words on those banners…Journey. Discovery. Self.”

Without further ado or rambling, I am honored to introduce to you the team I will be working with this year. We have begun to get to know each other recently, and I can’t express to you enough how fabulous I think these women are.
